Suzhou Qiao Hui HVAC introduction: How to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel ventilation pipes?
Classification :company newsDATE:2024-07-23

The following are some ways to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel ventilation pipes:

1. Choose the right stainless steel material:

- Different types of stainless steel have different corrosion resistance. For example, 316L stainless steel generally has better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel, especially in an environment containing chloride ions. The appropriate stainless steel grade can be selected according to the specific use environment and corrosive medium.

- For example, in high salinity environments such as the seaside, 316L stainless steel is preferred to make ventilation ducts.

2. Surface treatment:

- The surface of stainless steel is passivated to form a protective film that can enhance its corrosion resistance.

- Polishing treatment to make the surface smoother and reduce the adhesion of dirt and corrosive substances. For example, electrolytic polishing or mechanical polishing methods are used.

3. Control environmental factors:

- Try to avoid the ventilation pipe in the environment of high temperature, high humidity or strong corrosive media.

- Install dehumidification equipment to reduce ambient humidity and reduce corrosion. For example, in a humid basement, install a dehumidifier to control humidity.

4. Regular cleaning and maintenance:

- Promptly remove dust, dirt and corrosive substances from the surface of the pipe to prevent them from accumulating and eroding the pipe.

- Check the corrosion of the pipeline regularly, and deal with the problem in time. For example, clean the surface of the pipe with a cleaner every once in a while.

5. Coating protection:

- The surface of stainless steel can be coated with anti-corrosion coating, such as epoxy resin coating, polyurethane coating, etc.

- But ensure the quality and adhesion of the coating to achieve a good anti-corrosion effect. For example, in the ventilation systems of some chemical plants, special anti-corrosion coatings are used.

6. Reasonable design and installation:

- Avoid dead corners and fluid accumulation areas in the pipeline to prevent the accumulation of corrosive substances.

- Ensure the slope of the pipe to facilitate drainage and removal of corrosive liquids. For example, set a certain slope on the horizontal pipe so that the liquid can flow out smoothly.

7. Welding quality control:

- During the welding process, the quality of the weld should be ensured to avoid defects such as porosity and slag inclusion, which may lead to corrosion.

- Use appropriate welding processes and electrodes to ensure corrosion resistance of welded joints. For example, high quality welding methods such as argon arc welding are used.

8. Avoid contact with dissimilar metals:

When stainless steel comes into contact with other dissimilar metals, galvanic corrosion may occur. Insulation measures should be avoided or taken as far as possible.

- For example, insulating spacers are used to isolate the parts where stainless steel pipes come into contact with ordinary carbon steel brackets.
